Tim Lincecum
This author says yes. And for simple reasons-he has two Cy Youngs in about 2.5 years of pitching.
Overall, he has a 2.90 ERA, and has led the NL in SO's for two consecutive seasons. If the Giants are smart, which i'm not saying they are, they will pay him 23 million.
However, the only worry SF might have is that if they do sign him to a 23 million year deal, he will start pitching poorly, like when they signed the infamous Barry Zito. I doubt this will happen, because Lincecum is too good.

Pierce vs. Kobe
Kobe is a great player, one of the world's best.
This article is going to prove why Pierce is right up there with him, and even better than him.
1. Kobe: 4 championships
Pierce: 1 championship
Ok, not a strong point? I think not
Kobe won 3 of those championships with a better player, or almost certainly as good, on his team. The 7 foot 300 pound monster in Shaq enabled Kobe to win three championships. Therefore, these championships are negated. Kobe won his fourth "alone." But did he really win it "alone." Did he do all the work that he was credited for? Let's have a look:
1. Pau Gasol-without this guy, the Lakers are not close to winning anything-and gbo, don't give me crap about how his brother is better than him, BCUZ HE'S NOT!!
2. Andrew Bynum- this guy was able to defend Howard in the Finals, and give the Lakers the strength needed inside, something they desperately needed in 2008
3. Trevor Ariza- two game saving steals in the western conference finals, without him, kobe would not have gotten to the finals
4. derek fisher- game 4 of the finals, bailed kobe out-without him, a whole new series
5. lamar odom-best all around player besides kobe, and toughest person to guard besides kobe
As you can see, Kobe had TONS of help.
Pierce:
1. KG-ok, he was a beast in the 2008 finals, pierce needed his defense to win
2. Ray Allen-didn't do squat
3. Rondo-i have no clue wat he did
4. Leon Powe-GAME 2-thats it tho
This was the finals that Pierce and Kobe battled. Kobe had Odom and Gasol, Pierce had KG and Allen. Pierce scored the same number of points, while taking half as many shots. Pierce slowed down the Mamba, and was unstoppable.
Overall: By himself, kobe could not lead his team out of the first round (8th seed twice)
pierce by himself-3rd seed in the playoffs, lost in first round, and took his team to eastern conference finals
Pierce is a better free throw shooter, better three point shooter, and can close games ALMOST as well as kobe. Kobe still has the best mid-range shot, and is CLEARLY the best closer in basketball.
However, head to head, they are almost equal, with pierce having a slight advantage...
Thx

PIERCE VS. LEBRON
What has Lebron done that Pierce hasn't?
The only thing that comes to my mind is that Lebron has won an MVP.
MVP's don't tell how good a player is. Steve Nash has won two MVP's, but wasn't even considered a top 3 player. Kobe didn't win an MVP before 2008, but many thought he was the best player in basketball. Anyway, Pierce has something Lebron desperately wants: a championship, and a Finals MVP. Sure, Lebron may have led his team to the Finals, but that was when the east sucked, and all he had to beat was basically Detroit. Pierce led his team to the playoffs twice before KG and Ray Allen, and once to the East Finals. he put up similar stats as Lebron puts up now. Also, now, people consider Lebron better than Pierce because of his stats. These critics fail to encourage the point that Lebron has basically no one on his team, while Pierce has to share the rock with 3 other all-stars (including Rondo, who should be an All-Star).
Also, what can Pierce do that Lebron can't? He can shoot the three better than Lebron. He can close games better than Lebron. He is more experienced come playoff time. He can play at the same level of defense as Lebron can, and bottom line, can win a championship. In 2008, when the Celtics-Cavs series went seven games, who won the battle? Pierce. Granted, Lebron played a great game. But Lebron has yet to prove that he can win, no matter how many points he scores, how many rebounds he grabs, and how many assists he dishes.
As of now, Pierce is a better player than Lebron.

Flight Control Short Take
Short Take is a new minireview feature that brings you a few new games
every week. It provides "impressions" on a game.
Flight Control is widely known as one of the best-selling games on iPhone. However, I never really understood what the fuss was about. Until I bought it.
This may very well be the best 99c game on iPhone. It combines a unique line-drawing mechanism with highly addictive gameplay to provide an awesome package of fun. The graphics are beautifully drawn, and the music is well done. The game offers almost unlimited replay value with 5 levels and leaderboards. It even provides a Bluetooth multiplayer mode to play with friends! Well worth a shot.

Gangstar: West Coast Hustle Review
The first truly 3D open-world crime title has been released by Gameloft for the iPhone and iPod touch. How does it fare? Jump into our review and find out.
8/10
9/10
Gameplay: Oh boy. Gangstar is a blast to play. The game lends itself well to the goofy surreality experienced in games like GTA and Saints Row. It's fun to run over people, or shoot an RPG into traffic, or just explore. Missions are fun to play, with no noticeable glitches or bugs. Vehicle physics are extremely well done, with nice drifts and differing amounts of speed and handling in each vehicle. However, collision detection with inanimate obejcts is horrible. While the player can drive through signs and trees, the car stops dead if it even hits a planter pot. This really needs to be fixed. Another negative aspect is the lag. While the game rarely lags, when it actually occurs, it happens for up to 15 seconds at a time, making the game unplayable and prompting a restart. A couple of other features, like having plants/signs fall over, and being able to jump and climb, were sorely missed, but unneeded.
7/10
9/10
Nett Result: Fairly awesome game, but with a few kinks that prevent it from being perfect.
8/10 - PRETTY GOOD

Ted Kennedy: National Hero
America has suffered a devastating blow with the death of longtime senator Edward Kennedy. First elected to office for the state of Massachusetts in November 1962, Kennedy was elected 9 times and served a massive total of 46 years. Ted Kennedy supported a strong government and played a major role in the passing of several bills addressing topics like politics and health care.

The Economy and Sports: Soccer
Problem:
Soccer has been the most popular sport in the world for decade, and for good reason. The money and power behind football's best clubs have created the ultimate fan experience, by calling upon the best players they can to bring in their league's title. For years, this system of buying and selling players for hefty sums has kept the fans interested and the leagues competitive. However, in recent months, a glaring hole has opened up in this otherwise brilliant financial plan. Teams like Manchester United and Real Madrid have millions and millions to spend on whatever player catches their fancy, as they always have. However, things are looking bad for teams that sit on the fringe of contention; the teams that normally draw just enough profit to stay in the black.
These teams (basically everone except Real Madrid, Arsenal, and ManU) have found it hard to build around their one star player when they can no longer afford to keep that player under contract. The huge clubs sweep up that star for a hefty sum, leaving the lower level team with money but no talent. This has caused football to become increasingly polarized, with the good teams getting WAY better and the bad teams falling by the wayside.
Solution: This is one solution I know will never be accepted by the big teams, and therefore fail, but the idea has to be out there. International club soccer should initiate a salary cap plan. Under this plan, player salaries cannot exceed an amount set by a council that decides such matter. Any overreaching by teams, which will surely happen, should result in heavy salary taxes. There should be a revenue sharing agreement between clubs which allows the tax money to go to clubs which can't afford to reach the salary cap in the first place.
This shouldn't greatly hinder the big clubs, because they can afford the salary tax anyway. This will really help the teams at the bottom maintain a competitive environment. The teams in the 2nd division should create a second agreement, which will allow teams that get knocked out of the top division to let go of their best players to avoid salary issues with the lower payroll of the lower division.
The first problem solved by your friendly neighborhood businessman Garbanzo.

Iraqis Feel Ambivalence Toward American Soldiers
The Iraqis have to listen somewhat to the American miltary, because without it, the insurgents will wreak havoc across Iraq. Right now, the Iraqi military is too inexperienced and cannot control the number of insurgents in Iraq. Even when the United States made an agreement with Iraq to not interfere in cities and population centers, on August 19th, two bombings of ministries prompted the U.S. to act even when it wasn't supposed to. In hindsight, this decision was both beneficial and hindering to the Iraqi military. It was beneficial because the insurgents were eventually killed, but it hindered the progress of the Iraqi army, which was exposed because it still cannot prevent insurgents from attacking, let alone external countries. One source said that "This whole incident should serve as a wake-up call that the U.S. still has a very important role to play in Iraq’s security.” This is not encouraging news for Iraq, which is scheduled to be free of American support by 2011.
Some people will wonder what external threats Iraq faces. As long as the American army remains in Iraq, nothing. However, once it leaves, Iraq will be surrounded by potential enemies. Turkey is currently bombing Northern Iraq, and Iran and Iraq fought int he 1980's. There are many other small middle-eastern countries that do not like the idea of a Shiite-controlled Iraq.
Even though some Iraqis may feel some resentment towards the U.S., they know that America will have to be in Iraq for a very long time. There will be more Iraqi deaths, and the U.S. and Iraq are trying to contain the insurgents. But for now, Iraq will have to remain friends with the U.S. if they want to make any progress going further.
